1. New Guided Experience for Onboarding
In SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone, you can use the new guided experience “Onboarding” to onboard your new hires.
Integrated with SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding, the guided experience consists of fundamental tasks before and on the hire date and enables you to customize the content as needed. Here’s a screenshot of the new feature.
We build this feature to facilitate employee onboarding scenarios.
Configuration Requirements
Currently the Onboarding guided experience is available only for Early Adopter customers. If you want to adopt this feature, please contact us at SAP SuccessFactors Product Advisory Programs (mailto:SAP_SF_Product_Advisory@sap.com) and ensure you meet the following prerequisites:
- You have the license for SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone.
- You’ve completed the conversion of SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone from HXM core to SAP Cloud Identity Services.
- You have configured SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone. See Before Using SAP SuccessFactors Work Zone .
- You have the license for SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding.
- You have the license for SAP SuccessFactors Learning.

2. Enhancements to E-Verify for Onboarding and Onboarding 1.0
We updated the E-Verify API to the latest version released by the Department of Homeland Security.
You should test this feature in your Preview environment and update your user training to support the changes required by the Department of Homeland Security.
This enhancement complies with the Department of Homeland Security’s requirement to incorporate the new version of the E-Verify API (v31) into our system.
Note: We have released the enhancement in a patch for 2H 2021.
What’s Changed
In the current version:
- The duplicate case lookback period is extended from 30 federal government workdays to 12 calendar months. Duplicate cases from this time period must be closed before creating a new E-Verify case.
- You can no longer create a new E-Verify case, if there is an open case for an employee with matching Social Security Numbers and Client Company IDs.
- The duplicate case display limit is removed.
- You can now close E-Verify cases from the Scan and Upload status.
- You are now required to download the Further Action Notice, before you can refer a case.
- Case delay reasons now include Awaiting response on case created with incorrect information. The Department of Homeland Security provides this case status to reduce data entry burden for users.
- Case closure reasons now include Other. You can select this reason when you close a case and the reason is not listed in the available options.
- Hong Kong was removed from the Country list and Swaziland was renamed Eswatini.

3. Rehire with Old Employment Details
You can now rehire former employees with their old employment information, if the onboarding is done through SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting. Every old employment is available as a profile to choose during the rehire process. The new hire information is sourced from Recruiting, old employment records, and current onboarding process.
Note: Rehiring former employees with their old employment information isn’t supported if the onboarding is done manually or using External Applicant Tracking System.
As part of this enhancement, we’ve introduced a new assignment group called Rehire Coordinator to help maintain a separate group for managing rehires. This group can be used for rehiring employees with old or new employment. Admins assigned to the Rehire Coordinator group are those with permissions to complete rehiring and access-related information. They review rehire data and decide whether to rehire with old employment, new employment, or as a new hire.
We’ve introduced this option to rehire a former employee with old employment details to facilitate customized hiring processes, such as seasonal hiring.
Configuration Requirements
- Enable Allow Rehire with Old Employment Switch on the Onboarding General Settings page.
- Configure a check using the Hire/Rehire Configuration generic object in Manage Data to see if an employee exists in the system already. For more information, refer to the Related Information section.
- Create a responsible group for rehire coordinators and configure a business rule to automatically assign them to the respective tasks.
Role-Based Permission Prerequisites
You have the Administrator >> Manage Hires >> Rehire Inactive Employee permission.

4. To-Do Tasks for Managers and Participants in Onboarding/Offboarding Processes Available on the Latest Home Page
In the For You Today section on the latest home page, managers and other participants (e.g. HR) in onboarding or offboarding processes can take actions regarding their to-do tasks. Within that section there are three types of cards: Data Review, Compliance, and Manager Activities. By default, only to-do tasks that are created or modified in the past 90 days are being migrated to the latest home page. Older to-do tasks are accessible in the To-Do List side panel.
