H2 – 2023 Release Schedule
- Preview Release – April 28, 2023
- Production Release – June 02, 2023
1. New Mapping Logic for Public Holiday Enhancements in an SAP Payroll System
We’ve introduced a new mapping logic to support the replication of two new SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Time Management objects to the Substitution (2003) infotype, namely Holiday Category and Holiday Work Pattern. Previously, the mapping logic consisted in mapping the SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Time Management public holiday classes FULL, HALF, and NONE to the public holiday classes 1, 2 and 0 and setting the payroll entity day type to 0 when the payroll entity holiday class was 0, otherwise to 1 in an SAP payroll system.
We built this feature because of the changes made in SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Time Management and to provide a more flexible way of configuring public holidays in an SAP payroll system.
Configuration Requirements
For an SAP payroll system, Synchronization Support Package SPB9 must be installed in your system. Please note that you can’t use the feature as a whole until the support package mentioned has been released. The full documentation will be made available then too.
What’s Changed
In the current version, we deliver the following customizing in an SAP payroll system: :
- For the new Employee Central entity HolidayCategory, we deliver a new configuration in which you define the properties and map it to the payroll entity Holiday Class as illustrated here:
- For the combination of the Employee Central entities HolidayCategory and Holiday Work Pattern, we deliver the two new customizing tables where you can define the properties and map the combination to the payroll entity Day Type as illustrated here:
How It Looks Now
How It Looked Before
In the previous version, it was not possible to flexibly configure public holidays. Each public holiday was assigned to a Holiday Class. The allowed values were FULL, HALF and NONE. In an SAP payroll system, the allowed mapping values for Holiday Class were 1, 2 and 0 and for Day Type only 0 and 1 according to the value of the holiday class. It was not possible to specify other values than these fixed ones.

2. Enhanced Advance Leave Payment Process for Off-Cycle
Advance leave payment data for an off-cycle run is now kept in an SAP payroll system after a regular payroll run. Previously, advance payment leave data was lost when absences were replicated again. Administrators had to manually adjust the advance leave payment in an SAP payroll system.
In many countries/regions, there’s a legal obligation to pay employee’s vacation before they start their vacation. Beyond this legal obligation, employees can also choose if they want to receive the leave payment in advance or not according to the relevant company rules.
We enhanced this feature to prevent the loss of advance leave payment data in an SAP payroll system when absences are replicated again after a payroll run.
Configuration Requirements
For an SAP payroll system, Synchronization Support Package SPB9 must be installed in your system. Please note that you can’t use the feature as a whole until the support package mentioned has been released. The full documentation will be made available then too.
What’s Changed
How It Looks Now
In the current version, the off-cycle payment works as expected: all fields of the infotype Absences (2001) highlighted in red in the screenshot are filled using a country/region-specific report.
Let’s take an example: For Argentina, advanced leave payment is paid using the Off-cycle payroll run for vacation payment (HARCVAC0) report.
How It Looked Before
In the previous version, all fields of the infotype Absences (2001) highlighted in red were deleted and off-cycle payment data was lost when the absence was replicated again.

3. Enhanced Application Log for Push Replication (SLG1)
The application log now contains data about push replication.
Push replication happens immediately and is useful for job events like hire, rehire, and termination. It is now possible to analyze technical errors, for example, missing authorizations that occur during push replication runs using the Application Log (transaction SLG1) in the Employee Central Payroll system.
With this enhancement, log data about the push replication is now available in the Application log (SLG1). Analyzing errors is easier and faster.
Configuration Requirements
For Employee Central Payroll, Synchronization Support Package EA-HR SPB9 must be installed in your system.
Please note that you can’t use the feature as a whole until the support package mentioned has been released. The full documentation will be made available then too.
What’s Changed
How It Looks Now
In the current version, data about the push replication is available in the Application log (SLG1). In addition, the log shows errors for the relevant users provided by the push replication framework: the user who executes the Web Service or the technical user who sets up the point-to-point replication.
How It Looked Before
In the previous version, the Application log did not include data about the push replication.

4. New Onboarding (Standard Event) for Payroll Tasks
We have added a new Onboarding (Standard Event) for New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
We’ve added this feature to support specific onboarding tasks for your Payroll administrator.
Example
If an employee/onbordee chooses tax code STC (tailored tax code) in the onboarding form, the Payroll administrator needs to start a manual process to create the infotype P0313 in the Employee Central Payroll system. For this initiation, a payroll task needs to be available in Employee Central, so that the Payroll administrator can easily find it and take the necessary action.
Configuration Requirements
For Employee Central Payroll, Synchronization Support Package SPB9 must be installed in your system. Please note that you can’t use the feature as a whole until the support package mentioned has been released. The full documentation will be made available then too.
Role-Based Permission Prerequisites
You have set the User PermissionsPayroll PermissionsPayroll Administration.
What’s Changed
In the current version for New Zealand and the United Kingdom, you configure Onboarding (Standard Event) under Payroll Tasks in Payroll Unified Configuration.

5. Support for Connection of One Employee Central Instance to Multiple Payroll Solutions by Legal Entity
We’ve added the Legal Entity List field to the Payroll System Configuration (PSC) MDF object to allow the connection of one Employee Central system to several SAP Payroll solutions.
With this new enhancement, we can now configure multiple PSCs for a single country/region and connect each PSC of that country/region to a different SAP Payroll solution based on the legal entity. Depending on the created configuration, the employee data belonging to different Legal Entities are replicated into the corresponding Payroll Systems.
- The Payroll Information portlet in the employee profile page always displays the UI mashups based on the Legal Entity specified in the PSC.NoteIf an employee belongs to a Legal Entity that is not specified in any of the PSCs for that country/region, then the system uses the default PSC of that country/region, if no Legal Entity is specified.
- The Complete Payroll Tasks page is enhanced to display the combined set of tasks for all legal entities within a country/region. In case of legal entities between two different countries/regions, the tasks relevant for each country/region are displayed.
- The Payroll System Information page is enhanced to display the support package information for the respective Employee Central Payroll systems. The list of connected systems is available under the Payroll System URL and Client ID field as a dropdown list.
This enhancement was requested by the customers because, previously the Employee Central system could only be connected to multiple SAP Payroll solutions based on country. For example, if you want to split the payroll systems based on legal entity, then you can use Employee Central Payroll for Legal Entity A and the partner managed cloud offering forEmployee Central Payroll for Legal Entity B.
Configuration Requirements
For Employee Central Payroll, Synchronization Support Package SPB2 must be installed in your system. Please note that you can’t use the feature as a whole until the support package mentioned has been released. The full documentation will be made available then too.
