# Employee Central Migrating Features

Employee Central Migrating Features , As part of our ongoing commitment to innovation
and a great user experience, some of our older features are getting replaced with
[newer versions](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6Jlb11xrw6mXt0qshfL0SQ), new 
technology, or completely new tools. SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central Migrating

**Replacement Date:** After this date, SAP permanently disables the feature or version
and no longer provides support for it.

**End of Maintenance:** After this date, SAP will no longer provide bug fixes or
patches for the feature or version. Customers can still contact support for how-
to assistance.

## 1.Event Reason XML Deprecation

Since the H1 2021 release, the system has deprecated the XML-based approach for 
deriving event reasons during Job Information and Compensation Information imports.

The existing process of using XML-based rules in the Succession Data Model to derive
the event reasons for changes to Job Information and Compensation Information of
employees is no longer [supported](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNaHpcGmPV4).
You can now employ business rules to achieve the same purpose.

Existing rules in XML will be migrated into onSave business rules automatically.
All the migrated rules will [start ](https://lorenzodatasolutions.blogspot.com/)
with the postfix ‘migratedRule’. Example: compInfoModel_ERD_migrated_rule

If there are multiple rule conditions in your XML data model, the migration process
will combine all of them into a single business rule, which will be available for
Job Information and Compensation [Information](https://www.lorenzo-datasolutions.com/sap-successfactors-sample-videos/)

The system will automatically assign the new business rules to both the Job Information
and Compensation Information HRIS elements. You can view these rules in the data
model and the Business Configuration UI.

## Important Dates

**End of Maintenance:** SAP ended maintenance for the Event Reason XML Template 
with the 2H 2020 release. Since then, SAP has no longer provided bug fixes or patches
for this feature. Customer support is limited to how-to assistance.

**Replacement Date:** Customers could productively use the Event Reason XML Template
through the 1H 2021 release. After that release, SAP no longer supports the feature,
and customers must use the replacement approach.

## 2.Retirement of External Time Record

As of 2H 2021, we’re planning to retire External Time Record (MDF object and API)
and its composite API External Time Segment. You can use External Time Data instead.

**Retirement Date**: As of 2H 2021 (target), we’re retiring External Time Record.

### External Time Data

External Time Data supports a wider range of time data than External Time Record.
You can use External Time Data to import both clock times and durations. External
Time Data also supports cost centers and time types. You can even distinguish between
